East Africa Junior Tennis: Uganda finishes third in Bujumbura

Team Uganda returned home from Bujumbura, Burundi with several medals around their necks after impressing at the just concluded 2023 East African Junior Tennis tournament.

The Pearl of Africa side claimed the overall bronze medal behind Burundi and Kenya who took gold to Nairobi from the competition which is recognized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

Kenya collected 1200 points with the hosts Burundi accumulating 1040 and Uganda reached three finals hence settling for 710 points.

Troy Zziwa and Abdul Latif Ssendyowa fell to Burundians Allan Gatoto and Miki Nobel Igiraneza respectively in individual finals.

In the Boy’s doubles U14, Ssendyowa and Jonah Ssetongo lost to the Kenyan duo of Jeff Okuku and Ayush Bhandari to finish as runners-up.
