Uganda’s national senior men’s football continued to slip further in the global FIFA rankings following a series of recent undesirable results by the Cranes.
In the rankings released by the world’s football governing body, the Cranes are ranked 92nd globally. This represents a decline from the 89th position that Pearl of Africa occupied as of April.
However, Uganda continues to be the highest-ranked nation in the CECAFA region beating Kenya (102), Tanzania (123), Rwanda (139), Burundi (140), and South Sudan (168).
Because of the rankings, Uganda will be pitted in pot three of the African qualifiers for next month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup draws.
On the other hand, Uganda’s AFCON qualification opponents Algeria are 33rd in the world and fourth on the continent.
Meanwhile, Morocco tops the African rankings, followed by Senegal and Tunisia.
