Uganda National Basketball senior women’s team head coach Alberto Antuna has summoned 19 players to start preparations for the FIBA Afrobasket finals slated for July and August.
The team is made of 10 locally based players and nine who ply their trade from outside the country, with training slated to start on July 2.
Jannon Otto, who trades in Luxembourg will return to the team after averaging 18.3 points and 10 rebounds during the qualification.
Meanwhile, three college players, Jamila Nansikombi, Jane Asinde, and Melissa Akullu, have all been summoned.
“We are excited to be back on the big stage, and this is a big deal for our basketball as a nation,” said FUBA President Nasser Sserunjogi.
“We are very positive that the ladies will make the country proud come July 28 when the games tip-off,” he added.
The Gazelles will be making their third appearance at the continental showpiece after debuting in 1997 and 2015.
