The first quarter-finals of the National Secondary Schools had St. Henry’s Kitovu beat Westville High 1-0.

Jonathan Kyalema scored the all-important goal to take Kitovu to the semi-finals, and to qualify for this year’s Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) games.

The first stanza ended barren with no clear chances created from both sides but it was a different story in the second.

Shaban Mubarak’s free-kick from outside the box was denied by Kitovu’s goalkeeper Marvin Ssebirango.

The decisive moment came in the dying minutes when goalkeeper Kevin Ssewanyana misjudged the flight of a high ball from a Kitovu corner.

He failed to deal with the ball hence giving Kyalema an easy tap in to send the traditional school into the semifinals.

In their previous game, Kitovu ejected London College in the round of sixteen with a comfortable 4-1 win.

The Rwenzori representatives, Westville stopped St. Joseph College Layibi 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw in the normal time.

The win means that St. Henry’s Kitovu has qualified for FEASSSA (East Africa Schools) games in Huye City, Rwanda.
