KIU Titans have signed Congolese forward Denis Balungu in a bid to strengthen their title bid in the second round of the 2023 National Basketball League (NBL).

Balungu, who rejoins the Titans after a two-year spell at Burundi outfit Gymkhana, is a proven performer in the NBL.

He was a key member of the Titans team that reached the 2017 NBL finals and was also named the league’s Most Improved Player in 2018.

“We are delighted to have Denis back at the club,” said KIU Titans president Nasser Sserunjogi.

“He is a talented player who will add a lot of firepower to our team.” he added.

Denis Balungu is a versatile player who can score from inside and outside. He is also a good rebounder and defender.

He is expected to add depth to the Titans’ frontcourt and help them challenge for the NBL title.

KIU Titans currently sit in second place in the NBL standings, two points behind leaders City Oilers.

The Titans will be hoping that Balungu’s signing can help them bridge the gap and challenge for the title in the second round of the season.
