Showering a living legend with gratitude is right and just.

The above mentioned gesture was evident as the Cricket fraternity celebrated arguably the greatest Cricket coach and mentor Mr. William Kamanyi at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Nicknamed ‘Coach Jjajja’, Kamanyi was in charge of the Cricket Cranes in 1998 when the Pearl of Africa became an Associate Member of International Cricket Council.

This followed a dominant display in the same year during the ECACC, a tournament hosted and won by Uganda.

Today, the former national high jump record holder lectures in the departments of Sports Science at Makerere and Kyambogo Universities.

Back to the event of appreciating his national duties prowess, the day had a practice game that saw team William put 160 runs on the scoreboard in 25 overs.

However, the result was not enough to secure them a win as team Kamanyi managed 163 runs for five in 22 overs, winning the game by five wickets.

After the encounter, a get together headlined by bites and drinks followed as the elders of the game reminded one another of fond memories and how far the gentleman’s game has come.

To cut the long story short, William Kamanyi deserves all the praises and more. The event was colourful and most importantly, it was satisfying to see his signature smile. At Nnalubaale Sports, we salute you ssebo!
