Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Rulani Mokwena’s visit to KCCA FC has mainly been put to the need for him along with Morley Byekwaso to share knowledge on managerial and coaching matters.

As folks at Lugogo are eager to learn a thing or two from the South African tactician, he has noted that he is also here to learn something new.

“A lion is the king of the jungle and cannot operate in the underwater world where there is a shark and the reverse is true,” Mokwena told the KCCA FC media.

“But as human beings, we are lucky enough to be able to realize what is happening around the world.”

“If you stay only in your confines let’s say in South Africa, you may miss the feeling and the understanding of what it is that makes certain countries have this heartbeat.”

“So the opportunity to come to Uganda is two way, I am at KCCA to extend and extract knowledge,” Mokwena added.

“Byekwaso as a coach has something rare that I have noticed, he allowed us to take it on and as well allowed us to critic but I told him look, you will be surprised of how much we are going to learn from you as well.”

Lessons learnt by Mokwena

Mokwena has already learnt something from the way KCCA plays and he will be training it with the Sundowns players when he returns to South Africa.

“It has been very interesting to see them play two different types of ways with wing-backs in the first half and with full-backs in the second half.”

“I saw a different moment on the pitch that I will go with in my mind and I will try to use it to improve the full-backs at Sundowns next season,” Mokwena noted.

KCCA did not invite the former Orlando Pirates assistant coach only for sharing technical knowledge but also believe this could help bond the two clubs as far as KCCA’s strategic plan for partnerships and alliances is concerned.

This is Mokwena’s second time at KCCA having also been there in 2017 when the Lugogo-based outfit hosted Mamelodi in the CAF Champions League.

He arrived on Friday, June 17, and his five-day visit will climax on Wednesday, June 22.
