Former Uganda Sports Press Association president, Mark Namanya urged sports journalists to be active and more investigative in their story writing other than focusing on press conferences and game results.

The senior scribe emphasized creativity and professionalism that build up personal lifetime brands during the Association’s Education session at the monthly assembly today.

“Go deeper into the story and tell what people do not know. Give the athletes space and audience by connecting their pre and post-event story to give the reader a full insight into past game results which will be all over social media already. Athletes are the sport, not administrators,” Namanya noted.

He urged writers and presenters to stick to facts and not distort information. This will give your readers and listeners confidence.

“You have a vital role to play in the growth of the sports sector,” the celebrated journalist added.
