Two-time Uganda National Rally Champion Yasin Nasser is out this weekend in Morogoro, Tanzania, to burn off some rally rust and get some seating time in his newly rebuilt car, Ford Fiesta R5, popularly known as ‘Nemo’.

Yasin, holder of 2023 Ugandan and Tanzanian National Rally Championship titles, returns from a short sabbatical he went into after his lovely car rolled to scrap at the running of the WRC Safari Rally in Fresh-fresh stage (SS7) in Naivasha on 29th March this year.

After half a year away from rally action, Nasser says, ” I am glad Nemo is back, and I am only out to enjoy myself. I have some seat time as there are no points to hunt for in the Morogoro rally this weekend.”

According to the itinerary outed by the organizers of the Mkwawa Rally of Morogoro, Saturday crews will do an all-competitor group reconnaissance ahead of the ceremonial start at 1200hrs at Gymkhana Club with the first car starting competitive stage Mosi1 at 1405hrs.

Only two competitive stages Mosi1(19.09km) being the longest and Kiagi1(13.0km) shortest, are to be driven today.

The same stages will be driven on Sunday thrice, and the rally will be done.

The Moil-sponsored crew will also be part of the 16-man team from Uganda to the 2024 Rwanda Mountain Gorilla rally slated for October 18-20.

The fourth African Rally Championship (ARC) has attracted a total of 27 entries from Kenya, Burundi, Uganda and Rwanda the hosts.
