Ugandan rally drivers Dr. Godfrey Nsereko and two-time National Rally champion, “Speed Queen” Suzan Muwonge, are setting their sights on continental glory in 2027.

Fresh off the podium after winning the 2026 ARC4 title on Sunday during his debut continental attempt in Tanzania, Dr. Nsereko vowed to repeat his success next year.

“We are going full throttle, aiming for the African title. We want to rubber-stamp our names on the walls of the continent’s Motorsport Hall of Fame,” boasted Dr. Nsereko during a phone interview with The Observer.

Dr. Nsereko, co-driven by John Bosco “Madman” Musisi in a South African-built Toyota Etios, dominated the two-wheel-drive class at the 2026 Serengeti Rally from start to finish. The duo delivered a standout performance, consistently posting competitive stage times to push into the top six overall.

Musisi echoed his driver’s ambitions, noting that despite competing in only three events this season, they managed to clinch the title at the final round in Tanzania. He emphasized that with proper preparation and budget, they are ready for the challenge.

However, Nsereko noted he won’t soon forget Tanzania’s scorching heat, high humidity, and rough, sandy stages, which gave every crew a run for their money.

The other Ugandan crew tackling the grueling Tanzanian terrain was Muwonge, co-driven by one of Uganda’s senior navigators, Musa Nsubuga, in a Subaru Impreza N12B.

“We plan to go into full-swing contention for the continental ARC2 title in 2027,” revealed Muwonge, who delivered an impressive showing in Tanzania before running into bad luck. Her high-flying run was cut short when her Subaru Impreza’s power belt gave way on the penultimate stage.

Also flying Uganda’s flag high in Tanzania was Oscar Ntambi and his crew, who won the ARC2 title and finished fifth overall.

The next stop for the drivers is Gulu for Round 6 of the National Rally Championship, which will run in memory of the late rally driver Rajiv Ruparelia from October 8–10, 2026.
