Official: FUBA unveils Spanish national as new Gazelles’ Head Coach

Spanish native Alberto Antuna has been appointed the new Head Coach for the Uganda National Basketball Women’s team, the Gazelles.

The experienced coach, who formally worked as deputy with Montenegro, was made Nicholas Natuhereza‘s successor at the helm by the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) on Monday at Hotel Africana, Kampala.

Meanwhile, Natuhereza has been retained as Antuna’s assistant, while both Ali Mavita and Henry Malinga will form part of the rest of the technical team.

Antuna, along with his team will have an instant hurdle of helping Uganda qualify at the Zone Five for Afrobasket.

The coaching staff has thus summoned a provisional squad to tip off preparations for the Zone Five, which is slated for Lugogo between February 14-19, 2023.
