After joining professional boxing, super flyweight boxer Catherine ‘The Silent Beast’ Nanziri is ready to box her second bout in a professional career come tomorrow evening.
The first Ugandan female boxer at the Olympics Catherine Nanziri will square up against Tanzania’s Sadra Mohamed on Friday, 24th June 2022 at PTC Hotel in Bulenga, a suburb of Kampala city.
The aggressive fighter who has been undergoing vigorous training under coaches Emmanuel Kibuuka Busagwa and Henry Majwega promised a good show during the official weigh-in ceremony.
“I am happy to be writing more history in boxing. But it will only be good history with a victory and I promise to put up a good show,” Nanziri, the first female boxer to headline an event in Uganda stated adding.
“I will not go out there looking for a knockout, I want my fans to watch more minutes and enjoy the fight then we enjoy the after party together.”
During her debut pro fight, Nanziri expectedly knocked out Tanzania’s Husnah Saydi Zamba in the first round and now, with her fight being the main one on the cards, fireworks is what many await.
The 18 years old Mohamed is ranked higher than Zamba and the humble boxer promised to deliver a knockout while speaking to Nnalubaale Sports in Kiswahili.
“I am not here to avenge Zamba’s loss. We are different and my job tomorrow is to win with a knockout. She (Nanziri) is a good fighter but I have what it takes to stop her,” Mohamed noted.
Away from the main fight, more action is on the menu with the biggest of them in a super Welter weight bout between Stanley Mugerwa against Tom Muwanguzi.
“As you know, Santa is my nickname and I have packed enough gifts (read punches) for him. Being a Ladies Night, I will not punish him a lot,” a bragging Mugerwa told Nnalubaale Sports.
The other fight to produce fireworks will see Zzana based Joshua Male battling Jinja city’s Saidi Chako.
Fans will access the venue (PTC Bulenga) at 10,000/= (Ordinary), 20,000/= (VIP) and 100,000/= for the VVIP cluster.
