Black Pearls rugby club wasted no time as they thrashed Thunderbirds 32-3 to defend their Central Region Women’s title at Kings Park Arena Bweyogerere.

The dominant display from start to finish in Saturday’s title decider had the Kyadondo Rugby Club club Thunderbirds on the back foot most of the time.

Heading into the halftime break, Pearls had a 13-0 lead thanks to a penalty from Charlotte Mudoola and tries from Emilly Lekuru and Suzan Adong.

With no feathers to fly back into the game and title hunt, Thunderbirds only managed a penalty to write something on the scoreboard as Pearls Vice-captain, Ritta Nadunga scored a hattrick of tries.

In short, the unbeaten Pearls had two tight games, one in the first round away to Thunderbirds that ended 15-17 and the Avengers 32-24 home victory which saw them score two late tries.

The four-team championship had Makerere’s side Ewes finish bottom of the table but plenty of experience and learning lessons were picked as they faced the best three teams in the land.
