Egypt silenced a respectable crowd with an 83-68 win over South Sudan at Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala, Uganda yesterday night.
The Zone V FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2023 Qualifiers first game had South Sudan nationals living in Uganda passionately cheering their nation in quest of an upset but all was in vain.
On the score sheet, Raneem Elgedawy pocketed a game-high of 23 points followed by teammate Nadine Mohammed with 19 points to stamp the victory.
On the other side of the court, debutant Adut Bulgak led South Sudan’s team with a double double of 16 points and 20 rebounds and she will be one of the players to look out for in today’s first game.
