In sports, the hosting team benefits a lot from home-ground privileges and this is the main reason why Cricket Cranes will be flying back home empty-handed.
Following a 2-2 settlement in the four-match ODI Series, hosts Qatar kept the trophy as the tournament rules read out despite a good fight from the boys.
Qatar won the first game to set the pace but Uganda answered back brilliantly with back-to-back wins to take a 1-2 series lead into the final game.
With a win away from the famous “It’s coming home” phrase, Qatar made life hard for Uganda with some good fielding as they limited the Pearl of Africa to only 155 runs all out.
Kenneth Waiswa and Simon Ssesazi scored 31 and 29 runs respectively as Cricket Cranes’ best players with the bat as the side failed to finish their overs.
In the chase, Qatar held their nerves to put 156 runs on the scoreboard in 47.4 overs thanks to Kuram Shazad and Ikramullah Muhamed who contributed 45 and 39 runs both not out.
