Rams Rugby Football Club have been relegated from the Rugby Premiership in the penultimate round of this year’s competition.
Rams fell 16-08 to Kyadondo side Buffaloes in the early kick at the now famed ‘El Stadio de Swampunu (Kyadondo Rugby Club).
Before a ball was kicked this weekend, Rams needed two bonus point wins from the last two games.
This was to see them mathematically have a chance of upsetting the 9th-placed Rhinos but owing to Saturday’s loss, the calculators won’t be needed.
Rams have been a regular fixture in the men’s premiership in Uganda and as of 2024, will not be participating for the first time since 2015.
Elsewhere, Pius Ogena equalled the record for top try scorers in a single premiership campaign after scoring three times in the KOBs’ emphatic 57-10 win against the Impis.
Pius Ogena is now at 22 tries scored, a record he shares with KOBs legends Allan ‘Sokee’ Musoke and Justin Simwende Kimono.
With one game to go, Pius Ogena will hope that the stars will align in his favour to score at least once and have his name written in history books.
If he scores, he will be crowned as the record holder for the most tries scored in the premiership in one season.
That game is against the Black Pirates, with whom they’ll be tussling for this year’s crown in a winner-takes-it.
