City Oilers impressively dispatched Mozambique’s Ferroviario Beira 88-72 at the Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg, on Thursday in the BAL Elite 16 East Division Qualifiers.

The result meant that the Ugandan representatives finished top of Group B to set up a semi-final tie with South Africa’s Cape Town.

The Oilers were 23-15 up by the end of the first quarter, and kept the lead throughout before eventually securing the victory with a 16-point difference.

Star-players Falando Jones, Germaine Roebuck and Ngor Barnaba each managed 17 points, with Fayed Baale and James Okello complementing with 10 apiece.

The Ugandan champions have now picked up three wins in as many games, having beaten COSPN and Matero Magic in the earlier matches.

However, they will now have to fend off opposition from Cape Town to secure a spot for the 2023 BAL slated for Rwanda.
