KCCA visit arch-rivals Villa at unfamiliar territory

KCCA FC have made a long trip to Lira to take on long-time nemesis SC Villa in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The Friday encounter will be at a rather unfamiliar territory, as the hosts are serving punishment for their fans’ hooliganism. The record champions were sent away from their home for the next five fixtures by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel.

Meanwhile, the guests have been boosted by the return of proven goal-scorer, Shaban Muhammad who has missed five games due to injury.

He is yet to get going, having made a return in the summer transfer window from his boyhood club, Onduparaka FC.

The forward’s last involvement with the 13-time SUPL champions was when he came on as a second-half substitute in a 1-0 victory over Vipers SC on match-day three.

Head coach Morley Byekwaso will be hoping that Shaban returns with his scoring boots given that the KCCA strikers have continued to struggle in front of goal.

The Kasasiro Boys come into Friday’s encounter having failed to win their last game, as they drew 1-1 with URA FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday last week.

On the other hand, the Jogoos were 1-0 victors away to Arua Hill SC at the Barifa Stadium in Arua.

The two rivals are separated by a single point on the 15-team SUPL log with Villa occupying the fourth position on 14 points after eight games while on 13 points, KCCA lies sixth after seven games.

In similar meetings last season, both games ended in stalemates, 1-1 when Villa hosted and 0-0 with KCCA at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
