The Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) Vetting Committee has today afternoon ruled that presidential candidate Leon Ssenyange is not eligible to stand.
Appointed by the Association’s Executive Committee to receive credentials from aspiring candidates and scrutinize their suitability and eligibility to contest for 2022 Executive Committee elections.
According to a report Nnalubaale Sports has a copy of, two candidates have failed to make the cut.
The other candidate to face the wrath of the Vetting Committee was Francisco Bwambale who was vying for treasurer’s position.
As it stands, Moses Alsayed Lubega has joined the list of unopposed candidates come Saturday.
THE VETTING COMMITTEE’S FINDINGS
“The Vetting Committee discovered that Ssenyange missed paying membership fees for three years from 2017 to 2019. He later paid arrears in 2019 but again missed paying USPA annual membership fees for two years covering 2020 and 2021 which he paid on February 4, 2022 together with this year’s fees totaling Ushs 105,000/=.”
“Due to lack of consistency in remitting membership dues and failing to pay annual fees consecutively for five years in a row, Mr Leone contravened article 22 and is ineligible to contest for position of USPA President in 2022 and is therefore disqualified.”
