After beating defending champions National Insurance Corporation Netball Club thereby taking away their three years unbeaten run over the weekend, KCCA Netball club returns to action today.
They are going into another big one against another title contender, Makindye Weyonje Netball Club at Kamwokya Community Sports Centre.
This is one of the tight encounters in the league, and when the two sides met last season, each had a win with Weyonje taking the first round before KCCA bounced back in the second.
Hassan Nourdine Kato, the assistant coach for KCCA revealed that the game is one of those they need to win if they are to be champions this season.
“It’s not an easy game, actually we don’t have any fixture we take lightly, we take every game very serious, despite other seasons, this season, every team is very competitive.”
He added saying a win against NIC motivated them but that’s history now as they are looking forward for this game.
“We are well set, we only have one absentee, our captain Nalwanja Shaffie who is still nursing her injury but the rest are ok and available for selection.”
KCCA are still unbeaten in four games, sitting fourth on the log with eight points.
Weyonje is one of the stubborn sides against KCCA for the previous two seasons, and their tactician, Jesse Assiimwe asserted that his side is set for the game though they have two serious injuries.
“We are just from our last training, the girls are ready for the Wednesday game, only we are not going to be with our captain Shakirah Nassaka and Remmy but besides that we are going all out for the better results.”
Weyonje has ten points from seven games this season.
The other games on the day will see struggling Mutelx Life Sport host Prisons Netball club while UPDF and NIC will face off in the second game of the day.
Prison will return for their second game of the day and the fifth for the season as they play against second placed UCU.
National Insurance Corporation Netball Club are still on top of the table with 12 points in seven, and Ugx Luweero remains as the only side without a point this season.
