Weatherhead will put their top of the table status on the line when they take on Rockets on Saturday in the National Men’s Hockey League.

The top two sides in the league (Weatherhead and Wananchi) have been the best of the lot, but Rockets have shown that they can actually give those two a run for their money.

They come into this game placed third with 30 points, just seven behind their Saturday opponents.

While Weatherhead has scored a whooping 109 goals (more than double the tally of their Saturday opponents), Rockets have tried to emulate the table leaders with their defending.

The side has conceded 21 goals, that’s just 11 more than Weatherhead.

Weatherhead might be the table leaders, top goal scorers, best defensive side; they might’ve the top goal scorer, but one thing is for sure, they will not come expecting an easy game against Rockets.

Should they fail to win, and Wananchi does, they will relinquish the top spot.

Wananchi who are level on points with Weatherhead, and only separated on goal difference will face a not so tough opponent in Badgers on Sunday.

It will be the last game of game week 16, but it could also be the game that returns the defending champions to the summit.

Given the opponent, it could also be the game that sees Jordan Achaye overtake Weatherhead’s Thomas Opio in the goal scoring charts.

Achaye has 29 goals thus far, only two below Opio who tops the charts.

The other weekend games in the Men’s division will see 6th placed Makerere Stingers take one 9th placed KHC Originals.

City Lions (5th) will face Kampala Stallions (4th) while bottom side Weatherhead Titans will meet Thunders.
