Soroti City to Face Jinja SS in National Women’s Super 7s T20 Cup

Soroti City will seek to return to winning ways when they travel to Jinja to take on Jinja SS in the National Women’s Super 7s T20 Cup on Saturday.

The league holders opened their campaign of the Super 7s Cup with a comfortable win over Pioneer at the start of September, but they were overpowered by their rivals Aziz Damani Last weekend in their second game.

Soroti lost that game by 13 runs! It was a below par performance from most of the players from both ends.

From the bowling end, only Evelyn Anyipo (3) and Phionah Kulume (1) delivered while only the latter (28) delivered with the bat.

As they head to Jinja, they will not only look to bounce back from that defeat, but also better their net run rate as they seek to keep themselves within the summit.

It promises to be another exciting encounter between these two sides. The last time they met, Soroti City had to dig deep to win the game by 1 run in the final Over.

It was a win that they had to fight tooth and nail to secure, but one that handed them the league title.

Jinja SS still vividly remember that painful loss; they’ll come into this one seeking revenge. But first they must find a way to open their campaign positively.

Habib Mugalula‘s team will face Aziz Damani in the morning in their opening game of the Super 7s.

Damani are the table leaders with maximum points, and are huge favourites in this one. The yellow ladies sailed to comfortable victories when they met in the double header in the league.

Jinja SS are without a doubt underdogs in both games, but they have some quality in there ranks that should make things uncomfortable for their opponents.

Stephanie Nampiina, Hope Mbeiza, Whitney Nassuna, Mary Namiiro have all proved to compete at a higher level.

Mugalula who just recently led his Jinja SS side to the Sky View Boys Schools Cricket Week title should be optimistic of a positive outcome.
