Unnisan Bakunda is not just a name it’s a legend in the making, or at least that’s what he tells himself every time he hops into his Mitsubishi Evo 9, a car that’s basically a caffeinated squirrel with an identity crisis. Known for his incredible pace and fearless approach to rallying, Unnisan has been a force to reckon with since his near championship run in 2018 when he almost clinched the National Rally Championship driving an Evo 4. However, his dreams of glory were cut short after a rather dramatic roll, which he describes as “just a little spin, you know, for character.”
Now, in 2024, Unnisan drives the Mitsubishi Evo 9 a car with more mood swings than a reality TV star. Some days it drives smoothly, other days it acts out like a tantrum. But Unnisan’s relationship with the car is like any good love story full of ups and downs, and sometimes an “I’m done with you” moment, followed by making up.
