Despite putting up a good fight against the KCCA Panthers, newbies Tropical Royals suffered a 75-73 loss on Wednesday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Headed into the last quarter, Tropical Royals were 12 points down as their opponents led 56-44, but, they fought back to leave it just within two by the end of the match.

It’s Daniel Gaaki’s layup that helped KCCA get past the Royals with five seconds to the end of the midweek National League game.

Allan Nandala nearly stole it for the Royals but his three pointer missed the mark as the Panthers sighed the loudest of sighs.

Nandala led the scoring roaster with a whooping 27 points as Juma Osman hit 11 for the Tropical Royals.

For KCCA, Emmanuel Odongkara managed 22 points, on a 9 for 15 shooting with 14 rebounds for a double-double.

Relegation threatened Tropical Royals have only managed six victories and 12 losses this campaign.

KCCA ended their two game winless run and this victory is a huge boost ahead of a hard fixture which includes a match against the City Oilers.
