Uganda amateur boxing will not be the same from this week onwards.

Early this week, Uganda Boxing Federation was all smiles as Government of Uganda announced a three billion shillings ring fenced fund to the fraternity.

This morning, Wednesday 29th of June 2022 more cash has come in a sponsorship valued at 285 million shillings.

The two-year partnership with Sting Energy Drink on the giving end was unveiled at The Copper Chimney restaurant in Lugogo.

“We are ready to support boxing and help new stars come up through this amazing competition. Like it has been the case with our brand promoting big names in this sport like Manny Pacquiao,” Grace Namutebi Sting Brand Manager stated.

The scope of the sponsorship will include pre-event access drives, face offs on the eves of the fights and the official fight nights.

In the presser, Uganda Boxing Federation boss, Moses Muhangi was all smiles hinting that the baby (Uganda Boxing Champions League) is now getting the attention it deserves.

“At the start, people laughed at us and many fought this invention but now, it is akin to a hit song and everyone is enjoying it,” Muhangi noted in the presser.
