Pascal Murungi made his bowling debut for the Cricket Cranes and took two wickets for 16 runs in four overs, to help Uganda defeat Botswana.

The 19-year-old all-rounder, who captained the U-19 team at the World Cup last year, was one of the standout performers as Uganda defended their total of 153.

Alpesh Ramjani was named Man of the Match after taking three wickets for just 9 runs in three overs. The other bowlers to contribute were Siraje Nsubuga (2), Dinesh Nakrani (1) and Brian Masaba (1).

Openers Roger Mukasa (31) and Simon Ssesazi (30) laid the foundation for Uganda’s total with a 58-run partnership.

Riazat Ali Shah (28) and Pascal Murungi (19 not out) also made valuable contributions.

Uganda’s win keeps them top of the table in the T20-Africa tournament. They will next face Rwanda on Thursday morning.
