The 2022 Uganda Cup rugby tournament main cup has two corners left to give birth to a champion.

Saturday had quarterfinals action played at three grounds and favourites on paper progressed to the last four.

Defending champions KOBs needed a superb display from Pius Ogena who bullied Jinja Hippos players in a 34-11 victory at Legends Rugby club.

The second main cup quarterfinals at the same ground had hosts Rhinos ease past Rams in a 22-5 score thanks to a man of the match performance from Rhino’s Zacharia Bol.

Across Jinja road, Heathens claimed bragging rights in a Kyadondo Rugby Club derby as seasoned flyhalf Chris Lubanga kicked the yellow machine to victory over Buffaloes.

Lubanga made four penalties but missed both extras when his side crossed the chalk twice.

The last main cup action was between two Wakiso based clubs and Entebbe Mongers visited Black Pirates at Kings Park Arena Bweyogerere.

The close 33-23 score game saw home fans finish the game with their hearts in their mouths.

Pirates needed the boot of their captain Ivan Magomu who contributed 13 points thanks to his three penalties and two clean conversions.

Action returns this Saturday as teams will be eyeing to reach the finals which will be played on the 17th of this month. Semifinals draws will be conducted in the course of the week.
