Uganda Lady Volleyball Cranes suffered a 3-0 defeat to Egypt on Tuesday at the quarterfinals of the African Nations Championships in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The Cranes were beaten in straight sets in a show where the fight and quality were lacking against the North Africans.

In dominant fashion, Egypt made light work of Uganda, taking the first set 25-13, the second 25-18 and the third 25-11 to progress to the semi-finals.

Uganda were hard-done by an injury to middle blocker Jenniffer Alungat, who suffered an ankle injury and got stretchered off.

The Lady Cranes had previously lost to Kenya and Rwanda in their Group B games with the same scoreline but defeated Lesotho, Morocco and Burkina Faso to make the quarters.

They will now face Algeria later on Wednesday, in a fight for a fifth place finish.

Uganda has already assumed it’s best ever finish. Before this edition, the best Uganda had finished was ninth, in the 2009 edition in Kenya.
