Uganda Tennis Team Set to Compete in Davis Cup by Rakuten Africa

The Uganda Tennis Team is set to compete in the Davis Cup by Rakuten Africa, which will be held in Cercle De Kinshasa in DRC from June 21-25, 2023.

The team, which is captained by legendary John Oduke, will consist of Frank Tayebwa, Troy Adrian Zziwa, Paul Ssekandi, and Trevor Solomon Kazibwe.

The 12 teams competing in the Group V tournament are: Democratic Republic of Congo (hosts), Uganda, Gabon, Congo, Tanzania, Burundi, Mauritius, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Djibouti, Lesotho, and Seychelles.

The tournament will be played on a round-robin basis, with four groups of three teams. The winners of each group will compete for a qualification in Africa Group IV in 2023.

The other teams will compete in the classification games to determine their ranking at the end of the event.

The Uganda Tennis Team is looking to improve on their performance in the last Davis Cup tournament, where they finished in fourth place.

The team is confident that they can compete with the best teams in Africa and make their country proud.

Tennis President Matthias Nalyanya Wishes Team Good Luck

The President of the Uganda Tennis Association, Matthias Nalyanya, has wished the team good luck ahead of the tournament.

“I wish the team the best of luck in the Davis Cup by Rakuten Africa. I am confident that they will do their country proud,” Nalyanya said.

The team has been training hard for the tournament and is confident that they can compete with the best teams in Africa.

“We have been training hard and we are confident that we can compete with the best teams in Africa.” Oduke said.

The tournament will be a great opportunity for the Uganda Tennis Team to showcase their talent and to improve their ranking in Africa.
