Uganda National Ludo Super League (UNLSL) title race has been thrown into uncertainty after the twenty second and final match day of the 2025 season failed to take place, forcing the Federation to step in.
After Match Day 21 on 11 December, the championship battle was finely balanced. Masaka Giants led the table on 40 points despite a surprise 3โ1 loss to Najjembe, while Kazo Hill stayed close on 38 points following a strong 3โ1 win over Buloba A.
Nansana Galaxy, Kampala Pirates and Kigooowa United all posted convincing victories, while Kisaasi Youth and Nansana All Stars shared the spoils in a 2โ2 draw.
With only one round left, the title was a two-horse race between Masaka Giants and Kazo Hill. All clubs were scheduled to play on Sunday, 14 December, at Jebel Hotel in Buloba in what promised to be a dramatic finale.
It never happened. In a directive issued by Uganda Ludo Federation president Kalule Hussein, the final match day was called off due to reported irregularities and acts of defiance at the venue.
Namugongo Arena failed to turn up for their fixture against leaders Masaka Giants, while hosts Buloba A also did not appear for their match against Nansana All Stars.
The no-shows immediately raised concern. Masaka Giants risked losing top spot had Namugongo Arena won, while Kazo Hill could have moved into first place with victory over Kampala Pirates.
Nansana All Stars were also chasing a top-three finish. The overlapping stakes fuelled suspicion of possible manipulation.
The Federation has now ordered a 30-day investigation. The UNLSL Organising Committee will establish why the two clubs failed to appear and identify any individuals or teams responsible for the disorder at Jebel Hotel.
Mr Kalule warned that the leagueโs rules apply to everyone and that any confirmed involvement in match manipulation or syndicate activity will attract heavy sanctions, including relegation.
Only after the investigation report is submitted will a new date be set for the replay of Match Day 22, which will decide the 2025 champions.
For now, the season remains unresolved. Masaka Giants and Kazo Hill wait in limbo, and what should have been a thrilling finish on the board has instead become a test of integrity off it.
