  • Lugazi FC 0-1 Mbarara City FC

Mbarara City earned a vital breakthrough on the road, beating Lugazi FC 1-0 in Najjembe to move seven points clear of the relegation zone.

It was a result that carried more than just three points. For the first time, Mbarara City won away at Lugazi, a venue that had previously denied them.

With only three games left, the timing could not be better.

Clinton Kamugisha delivered again, his second half goal settled a tight contest and secured all three points, continuing his run of decisive contributions when the team needs him most.

The victory lifts Mbarara City to 23 points, giving them breathing space in the survival race.

Just weeks ago, they were deep in trouble. Now, they have a cushion and control of their fate.

They also remain unbeaten in six meetings with Lugazi, a record that reflects their growing edge in this fixture.

Lugazi must quickly recover as they prepare to visit BUL FC on May 12.

Mbarara City return home to face SC Villa the next day, with a chance to move even closer to safety.

Elsewhere, Lawrence Olaboro struck the only goal as Calvary beat Police FC 1-0 in Yumbe.

The win moves Calvary to 16, a point above Buhimba United Saints who drop to the bottom, keeping the relegation fight alive heading into the final stretch.
