Born to Ugandan parents a thousand miles away from Uganda, US based forward Jonathan Komagum is set to represent his country.

A son of an Acholi Dad and a Muganda mum (Grace Samalie Mukasa), the big man is high in anticipation ahead of a possible debut with Uganda’s Silverbacks ahead of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.

Komagum is currently in Kigali, Rwanda with the rest of the team as they gear up preparations ahead of the opener against Mali today.

β€œIt feels great to represent Uganda,” Komagum was quoted by The-SportsNation, before adding: “I have enjoyed being around my new teammates. They have welcomed me and helped me transition well.”

β€œI am excited to play for Uganda and believe we will do big things,” he concluded.

Komagum attended the City of London Academy for his High School Basketball where he helped South Park Pride defend the U18 National title in 2017.

He was named MVP after tallying 10 points and 15 rebounds. The towering figure then moved to USA where he attended TaylorMade Academy in Avondale Arizona for one year.

In 2018-2019, he attended Williston State, ND, for his freshman year where he averaged 1.6 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game and 0.8 blocks per game in 33 games.

He followed it up with 9.7 points per game, 10.4 rebounds per game and 1.6 blocks per game in 31 games in his Sophomore year.

With his 6.9 feet physique and ability of dominating the board, he is surely a big addition to the Silverbacks as the Ugandan side has occasionally been losing the board battle.
