On Tuesday evening, the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association released a shortlist of 13 stars to represent the country in the FIBA AfroBasket 2025 Qualifiers.

The Uganda men’s basketball team, the Silverbacks, were in November 2023 drawn in Pool B of the 2025 AfroBasket Qualifiers alongside familiar foes Cape Verde, Nigeria, and the Winner of Zones 1+2 Pre-Qualifiers.

“The 20-nation race to next year’s AfroBasket begins with Window 1 on February 23 when teams in Groups B, D and E take to the floor in Egypt and Tunisia.”

“The other eight teams in Groups A and C will enter the race in Window 2 in November. To qualify for the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket, teams must finish in the top three places of each group, which will be played over two rounds,” reads a statement from FIBA.
