The Namuwongo Blazers pulled off an emphatic 82–64 win against arch-rivals City Oilers in Game 6 of the 2026 National Basketball League (NBL) Finals to force a decisive Game 7.

The Blazers recorded the highest winning margin of the series so far (18 points) with Peter Obleng delivering a Player of the Game performance.

Earlier in the day, the fixture was cast into doubt after the Blazers lodged a formal protest over player eligibility and foreign player quota violations.

They challenged City Oilers’ use of Dier Amal Malual in Game 5, which ended in a 78–73 loss for the Blazers, but the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) ultimately nullified the protest, clearing the way for Game 6.

Once on the court, the Blazers came out firing. Obleng and Ssebagala controlled the tempo early on, putting up 17 and 11 points respectively to hand the away side a comfortable 45–29 lead at halftime.

The Blazers converted 80% of their free throws (16/20), compared with the Oilers’ 67% (14/21). Their three-point shooting also improved by 10% from Game 5, giving them a better shooting efficiency in Game 6.

Meanwhile, Franck Fataki Nyembo continued his steady form, adding 18 points to strengthen his case for Finals MVP. The Blazers’ defence was also top-notch, holding City Oilers’ Patrick Rembert to a series-low 14 points and keeping last season’s MVP, Joel Lukoji, scoreless.

However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the Oilers, with Jonathan Komagum standing out as he kept his team in the game with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

The series culminates in Game 7 on Saturday, August 22, hosted for the first time at the Hoima City Stadium Arena.
