2026 National Basketball League | Women | Friday June 12

  • UCU Lady Canons 71-48 JKL Lady Dolphins

Tamasha Nsubuga tried to spark a fightback, but the UCU Lady Canons were simply too strong as they swept aside JKL Lady Dolphins 71-48 in a National Basketball League clash at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday.

Nsubuga scored 16 points for the defending champions, but UCU controlled the game from start to finish to complete a regular-season double over a side chasing a fourth straight league title.

Even without star players like Sheila Lamunu and Mariam Namukwaya, Lady Canons set the tone early with aggressive defence and efficient shooting. JKL struggled to find answers as UCU raced into a commanding lead.

Sylivia Nakituuka capped a dominant opening quarter with a three-pointer that stretched the advantage to 24-7.

Things got worse for the Lady Dolphins in the second period. UCU’s defence remained airtight, limiting JKL to just seven points in the quarter. By halftime, the Canons had built a huge 29-point lead and were firmly in control.

JKL showed signs of life after the break. Led by Nsubuga, they matched UCU 17-17 in the third quarter, but the damage had already been done.

The Lady Dolphins won the final quarter and continued to push until the end, but the deficit was too large to overturn.

For JKL, Nsubuga’s 16 points and Charity Nantalo’s 11 were the bright spots on a difficult night.
