A stellar 35-point performance from forward Franck Fatahi Nyembo led the Namuwongo Blazers to a thrilling overtime victory over the City Oilers at the Hoima City Stadium Arena, securing their second National Basketball League (NBL) title.
The score was locked at 66-66 after regulation, before the Blazers pulled away to clinch an 81-74 victory in the extra period. On any ordinary day, Patrick Rembert’s effort would have carried the City Oilers to victory, but Nyembo proved unstoppable.

Fayed Bbaale and Jimmy Enabu were among the night’s other key contributors, scoring 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Nyembo was subsequently named NBL Most Valuable Player (MVP) and featured in the All Star Team of the Season alongside teammate Anthony Chukwurah, City Oilers duo Jonathan Komagum and Patrick Rembert, and fan favourite Edrine Ekau from the Rezlife Saints.
Overall Game Performance The Namuwongo Blazers held the edge in field goal shooting, converting 40% (29/72) of their attempts compared to the City Oilers’ 32% (23/71).
Although the Oilers were more efficient from the free-throw line—shooting 67% to the Blazers’ 54%—both teams converted exactly 20 points from the charity stripe. Ultimately, superior field-goal shooting proved the deciding factor.
