After five years of growth, JT Jaguars Basketball Club has turned a new page. The club has officially rebranded to Kira Jaguars Basketball Club (Kira Jaguars BBC), a move aimed at strengthening its bond with the community it calls home.

Club officials say the decision goes beyond a change of name. It reflects the team’s desire to firmly establish itself within Kira Town and build a stronger connection with residents, businesses and basketball fans.

Founded five years ago as JT Jaguars, the club quickly grew into a competitive side on the local basketball scene. But as the team expanded, management felt it was time for the club’s identity to reflect its roots.

By adopting the Kira name, the club hopes to inspire greater community ownership and pride while expanding opportunities for youth development through sport.

“This rebranding is a testament to how far we’ve come in five years, but more importantly, it is about where we are going,” the club said in a statement.

“Kira Jaguars BBC represents our commitment to our roots, our fans and the future of basketball in this region.”

The rebrand also comes with a fresh visual identity. While the jaguar remains at the heart of the club’s badge as a symbol of strength, agility and determination, the design has been modernised to reflect the club’s ambitions.

New kits and merchandise bearing the Kira Jaguars identity are expected before the start of the next league season.

The club believes anchoring itself to Kira will help attract local sponsorships, strengthen community programmes and create a sustainable future.

Although the name has changed, management insists the values that defined JT Jaguars hard work, excellence and entertaining basketball, remain the same.

With a new name, the Kira Jaguars will be in action this July as the 2026 National Basketball League Playoffs tip-off
