2023/2024 FUFA Big League to Kick Off with Boma FC vs Jinja North United

The 2023/2024 FUFA Big League season, the second-highest tier of Ugandan football, will kick off this Thursday, September 21st, with Boma FC hosting Jinja North United at Masindi Stadium.

The top three teams at the end of the season will be promoted to the Uganda Premier League, while the bottom two teams will be relegated to the FUFA Regional League.

Jinja North United, under the guidance of coach Sadiq Ssempigi, have strengthened their squad ahead of the new season with the signings of Hakim Magombe and Wasswa Shaban, among others. They have also renewed the contracts of Derrick Basoga and Deo Issejja.

The two sides shared the spoils in both of their encounters last season, drawing 1-1 and 3-3.

The FUFA Big League has received a new sponsorship deal from Betpawa worth $150,000 (sh560m), part of a $320,000 sponsorship agreement.

The competition will also benefit from awards for MVP of the season, best goalkeeper, coach, player of the season, most assists, and young player of the season.

There will also be cash prizes for the league winners and the other two clubs that earn promotion to the Uganda Premier League at the end of the season.
