James Jarieko became the hero as Ntugasaze FC sealed a historic promotion to the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League with a hard earned 2-1 victory over Bunyaruguru United at Kavumba Recreation Ground on Sunday.
Jarieko scored both goals in a tense FUFA Big League encounter to send the Mityana-based club to the top flight for the first time with one game left this season.

The win moved Ntugasaze to 50 points in third place, confirming promotion alongside Blacks Power and Kigezi Homeboyz.
It has been a memorable campaign for Ntugasaze, who overcame more than just opponents on the pitch.
The club started the season at Ssaza Grounds in Mityana before shifting to Kira Road in Kamwokya and later settling at Kavumba Recreation Ground.
Despite the constant changes, the team stayed consistent under coaches David Bbale, Isa Serwanja and Chancely Morgan. Ntugasaze have won 13 matches, drawn 11 and lost only five this season.
Their place in the top flight was secured after Paidha Black Angels failed to close the gap despite beating Young Elephant 2-1.
Even if Paidha finish level on points, Ntugasaze hold the better head-to-head record after a 1-1 draw in Zombo and a 3-1 win at Kavumba earlier this year.
Promotion marks a major milestone for the club and for football fans in Mityana, who now hope to watch Uganda Premier League football back home next season.
Elsewhere, Kataka boosted their hopes of taking the final promotion slot with a 2-0 victory over Kigezi Homeboyz.
Kataka remain fourth on 48 points, one ahead of Paidha Black Angels heading into the final round.
Blacks Power thrashed Mbale Heroes 4-0, Bright Stars beat Wakiso Giants 4-1, while Iganga United defeated Nebbi Central 3-0. Kaaro Karungi edged Kiyinda Boys 1-0 and CATDA beat Onduparaka 1-0.
