Africa Junior Golf Championship: Uganda Eyeing a better position

Uganda is set to host the All Africa Junior Golf Championship from 15th to 21st April 2023 at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa.

Fifteen countries, Uganda inclusive, have confirmed participation in this event and these are; Botswana, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Gabon, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The teams start arriving today (14th April 2023), and will be accommodated at the Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Each country is allowed to enter a boys team composed of four (4) players and a girls team
composed of three (3) players.

Uganda has entered a boys team composed of Reagan Joseph Akena, Ibrahim Ssemakula, Juma
Abiti and Abdul Kakeeto, as well as a girls team composed of Frista Birabwa, Vivian Achen and
Winnie Musuya.

The mode of play shall be stroke play over 72 holes and the best 3 scores per day count for the boys and the best 2 scores per day count for the girls.

In the last edition, Uganda’s Junior Golf National team finished 6th in Egypt and are now eyeing a better position since they’re playing as hosts.

South Africa are the reigning champions of All Africa Junior Golf Championship that was played in 2019.

The team is led by coach Flavia Namakula, and the team manager Sam Kacungira.
