Despite enduring 1681 kilometres on road from Kampala to Dar es Salaam, all the six Uganda Boxing National team athletes will return home with a medal around their necks.

The Bombers had a good hunting at the just concluded Zonal competition with three gold medals, two silver medals and a bronze.

They boxed their way to medal brackets through hurdles in boxers from hosts Tanzania, South Sudan ,Burundi, Eswatini, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Kenya.

The Mount Kilimanjaro Boxing Competition was a build up to forthcoming Commonwealth Games scheduled for July 28 to August 2022 in Birmingham, England.

Featherweight Jonah Kyobe, Lightwelter Joshua Tukamuhebwa Joshua and Yusuf Nkobeza won gold medals.

Fly Weight Nakimuli Teddy and Welter Owen Kibira settled for silver medals while Middle Weight Isaac zebra Senyange scooped a bronze medal.

Away from the ropes, credit also goes to the two coaches in Mayanja Twaib and Lawrence Kalyango, ringside doctor Martin Ntulume and media attaché Akram Mbabazi.

Also, some props goes to Ibrahim Sekizivu and Keneth Kagezi who made sure the team kit, meals among others are in place on time.
