Cricket Cranes put 162 runs on the scoreboard to qualify for the semifinals of the ACA T20 Africa Cup against a stubborn Mozambique side down in South Africa.
Uganda needed to dig deep and come out on top as Mozambique managed only 124 runs, 38 short of the target during the chase.
The magic was with the fifth wicket partnership worth 85 runs between Alpesh Ramjani (78) and Kenneth Waiswa (26) which helped move the score along nicely.
Cricket Cranes recovered from a slow start that had Uganda score only 63 runs inside the first 10 overs and dropping four wickets in the process which had many panic buttons pressed.
Two U-19 graduates in Joseph Baguma and Munir Ismail were given their T20i debuts joining the growing list which has their captain Pascal Murungi and opening bowler Juma Miyagi.
The win saw Uganda bag a semifinal slot and going by the mixed results from the other group, Cricket Cranes are most likely to meet Kenya who lost to Tanzania.
The team will take on Ghana in their final group game on Tuesday morning and a percentage record entering the knockout stages is the task at hand.
