Cricket Cranes failed to chase a 250 total by 10 runs in their ODI opening game on the tour of Qatar.

Guests Uganda won the toss and elected to field first and it was the spinners in Alpesh Ramjani (four wickets) and Henry Ssenyondo (two wickets) who gave Qatar batsmen a run for their money.

With the bat, the two left-handed openers Simon Ssesazi and Ronald Lutaaya plus experienced Roger Mukasa had a bad day in office as Uganda witnessed a slow start.

With Qatar in the driving seat, Uganda needed something special and it was the partnership of Ronak Patel (33) and Riazat Ali (84) who combined for 64 to give Cricket Cranes a fighting chance.

Just like the saying it’s the hope that kills you, a series of run outs as players were forcing matters denied Uganda victory in the Desert.

Today, Friday is an off day for the Cricket Cranes who return to action on Saturday.
