Eight teams to represent Uganda at CAVB Zone V Volleyball Club Championship

With undeniable anticipation, Uganda is gearing up to host one of the most prestigious volleyball events, the CAVB Zone V Volleyball Club Championship.

Scheduled to spike off on 16th February and climax on 23rd February, 2025 at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala.

A thrilling week of beautiful regional volleyball action, organized in collaboration with the Uganda Volleyball Federation is set to see if Clubs from the Pearl Of Africa can keep the title within it’s boundaries.

With Kampala’s selection, this is going to be Uganda’s strongest volleyball Legacy after the city hosted the All-Africa Games qualifiers for women in 2019.

Burundi, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda are the 12 countries CAVB Zone V comprises of.

But Uganda is set to be represented by Eight (8) teams all together in the Men and Women categories.

For the men the honour goes to Sport-S, Nemo stars, KAVC and UCU Doves whereas women will be represented by KCB Nkumba Volleyball Club, Ndejje University Elite Volleyball Club, Sport-S and KCCA VC.

In the last edition, held in 2023 and hosted by Rwanda, Uganda was represented by Sport-S Volleyball Club (Men) and KCCA (Women).

Sport-S Volleyball Club finished second in the men’s category losing 3-0 [25-18, 25-27, 34-35] to Kepler (Rwanda) in the final.

Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) in the women’s category secured fifth place after losing 3-0 [25-19, 25-15, 25-21] in the quarter finals to Kenyan opposition, Pipeline who were the Women Champions.

This time round Kenya will bring five teams: three women’s teams in KCB, holders Kenya Pipeline, Kenya Prisons and two men’s teams inKenya Ports Authority (KPA), and Kenya Prisons.
