Four Local based players were named in the Uganda Men’s National Basketball team which has already touched base in Cairo, as they gear up for the forthcoming second window of the FIBA World Cup Qualiers.
The quadraple all feature for the City Oilers including, James Okello, Jimmy Enabu, Tonny Drilleba and Ivan Muhwezi, and will be joined by nine other foreign-based players.
Jonathan Komagun of the Sacramento State Hornets will be making his debut for the Silverbacks while Ismail Wainright is part of the squad as well.
The team is expected to spend two weeks in Cairo before setting off for Rwanda for the Qualifiers due July 1-3.
Uganda have three friendlies lined up against Rwanda, Jordan and Egypt to fine tune for the Qualifiers.
Uganda are third in Group A with a win over Nigeria and two losses over Mali and Cape Verde.
These are qualification pathways to determine the five African teams that will take part at the 2023 FIBA World Cup to be hosted by Indonesia, Japan and Philippines.
