Four Teams forfeit as 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup Kicks off

The 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup started on a messy note, with four teams failing to show up for their Round of 32 matches on Sunday.

Olila High Women Football Club headlined the no-shows after missing their trip to Western Uganda to face Buheesi Valley.

It adds to a difficult season for Olila, who have already been relegated from the FUFA Women Super League after earlier forfeits against Uganda Martyrs and St. Noa Girls.

UPDF also failed to honour their fixture against Sheema Girls, while Tooro Queens did not turn up against Lamancia Women.

Pabo United were the fourth side to forfeit, missing their away match against Police Women.

FUFA has not yet issued a statement, but the Disciplinary Panel is expected to award walkovers to the home teams.

Away from the disruptions, there was plenty of action on the pitch.

UCU Lady Cardinals were the most convincing winners, thrashing Kick It Women FC 8-1. She Maroons followed with a 7-0 win over Kangulumira in Kayunga, with Judith Ssanyu and Lilian Kasuubo scoring twice each. Jackline Adong, Kauthara Naluyima, and Lilian Mutuuzo also got on the scoresheet.

Makerere University matched that result with a 7-0 victory over Buhimba Lady Saints. Uganda Martyrs Junior team beat Rines 2-0, thanks to goals from Lydia Namayanja and Ssanyu Nambuya.

Twelve teams have now progressed from matches played, while others are set to advance through forfeits.

The competition will step up in the next round. Last season’s quarter-finalists Amus College, Kampala Queens, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga, She Corporate, St. Noa Girls, Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Lady Doves, and Wakiso Hill have already secured places in the Round of 16.
