Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Volleyball Club’s run at the Women’s African Volleyball Clubs Championship ended in Cairo after a straight-sets loss to Al Ahly in the Round of 16.
The Egyptian giants, 10-time champions, won 25-19, 25-09 and 25-13 to move into the quarterfinals, leaving Uganda’s sole representatives with no way back.

KCCA’s exit closes a campaign that started poorly but showed flashes of promise. They lost their opening three group matches to Nigeria Customs, Tunisia’s CF Carthage and Kenya’s DCI, results that left them needing a win in their final Pool C game to stay in the tournament.
They responded when it mattered. Against Volleyball Club Les Aigles du Congo (VLA), KCCA delivered a composed performance, winning in straight sets to reach the knockout stage.
Their front-row defence stood firm, turning VLA attacks into chances, while sharp finishing and strong serves, including several aces, gave them control of the match.
That result set up a difficult tie against Al Ahly, one of the favourites and the host side.
In the knockout round, the gap in experience showed. Al Ahly controlled the match from start to finish, keeping KCCA under pressure and limiting their attacking options.
