Uganda’s national beach volleyball men’s and women’s teams have left for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania ahead of the 2026 CAVB Continental Beach Volleyball Championship.
The teams were flagged off in Kampala by Uganda Volleyball Federation president Sadik Zaid Nasiwu alongside officials from the National Council of Sports before departure for the regional tournament scheduled from May 20 to 26.

This year’s championship carries added importance as it also serves as the Zone V opening qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and the 2027 FIVB World Championships.
Uganda’s men’s team will compete against hosts Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Egypt, Sudan and South Sudan in a round-robin format.

The women’s team will face Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Egypt and South Sudan.

Organisers have limited each delegation to 10 members, including four athletes per gender, one certified referee and one team official.
Speaking during the send-off, Nasiwu urged the teams to represent Uganda with discipline and determination as they seek strong performances against some of the region’s best sides.
