Uganda football custodians, FUFA has sent national broadcaster UBC an injunction against the latter’s continued advertising and intention to air Uganda’s AFCON qualifier with Tanzania.

With the game a day away, FUFA has instructed UBC to desist from advertising or airing the match which Uganda is hosting from the Suez Canal Stadium, Ismailia in Egypt.

“Please be informed that in principle, the broadcasting rights to the National Football Teams including Uganda Cranes within the territory of Uganda, are entirely owned by FUFA and in other territories by CAF.” partly said a letter from FUFA’s legal representatives Ochieng Associated Advocates and Solicitors, dated March 22nd, 2023.

In the past, UBC has on several occasions aired Uganda’s home matches but with FUFA TV now in the picture, it’s unlikely the Federation will sell the broadcasting rights elsewhere.

FUFA has previously clashed with various media houses over the same, including the most recent battle with Azam during the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualification matches.
