With only two days away from the box-off, over 400 boxers had reported for medicals, weigh-in, and sports entry checks for the 2023 National Open Boxing Championship.

By press time, the process of making sure the athletes are in the right shape to box had the technical wing of the Uganda Boxing Federation endure the morning drizzle and sun to register as many boxers as possible.

With time not on their side as a technical meeting to decide who will and not box later on today evening, the exercise at Lugogo is akin to an uphill task.

As some Coaches and their boxers left the venue all smiles, those who failed to meet the required credentials left with an unhappy face as the technical department had no sympathy.

Fast forward, the action starts this Friday till Thursday next week for the finals. Two venues will be used in Lugogo; behind the boxing gym for the preliminaries, and the semifinals plus finals inside Lugogo Indoor Arena.
